The singing of mantras in alternate chanting is called kirtan. It is a beautiful, joyful and healing method for expanding consciousness and coming to a sense of oneness with the cosmic.
Here are collected the texts, translations and explanations of the mantras and songs sung at Yoga Vidya during Satsang in the centres and ashrams.
Additionally included are mantras also sung at Sivananda Ashram Rishikesh and some songs from other traditions. Sheet music and chords can be found in the separate Kirtan Sheet Music Book.
As an aid to correct pronunciation when singing and reciting the mantras in Sanskrit, the Kirtan Book has been extensively edited and now includes the spelling in scientific transcription (IAST) and explanations of Sanskrit pronunciation.
