The nylon material is great, so even in rainy weather you can get to your yoga class with a dry mat. Extra big should be taken literally - the bag is really very big. It not only fits the mat, but also clothes, keys, yoga belt and block and whatever else you want/need to take with you. I was a bit surprised at first because of the size, but now I think it's great because I have all my seven things together.
