Curcuma (turmeric) is also known as "Indian saffron" and the "golden spice". This plant contains curcumin as a bioactive component. According to Ayurveda, it ignites Agni (digestive power)* and reduces Ama* (toxins) in the body. Curcuma is also known in Ayurveda to support joint flexibility.*
Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is a plant native to Southeast Asia and India. In the ancient Ayurveda texts (3000 years old) it is considered sacred due to its many benefits. The active ingredient in turmeric, curcuminoids (diferuloylmethane), has numerous supporting properties for our well-being.
According to Ayurveda, turmeric balances the doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha. It has many positive effects on the Rasa and Rakta Dhatus (the blood and plasma of the circulatory system)*. According to Ayurveda, turmeric also balances the Agni (digestive fire*) and reduces Ama* in the body.
