A grita is a traditional Ayurvedic dosage form in which ghee (clarified butter) is enriched with a special herbal substance. Only organic ghee obtained from hay butter is used for Classic Ayurveda Gritas. Triphala Ghee can be used internally and externally.
Triphala, also known as three-fruit, is considered the most important food supplement and the most important Rasayana in Ayurveda. It consists of equal parts of the three fruits amla (Indian gooseberry), haritaki (myrobalan) and bibhitaki (green belerian myrobalan). Amla primarily calms Pitta, Haritaki mainly harmonizes Vata and Bibhitaki mainly soothes Kapha. The combination of the three fruits balances all doshas.
