All one by Krishna Das (CD)

To create All One, a choir of 70 people and an orchestra of 20 people came together in November 2004 at the prestigious Avatar Studios in New York. The songs - created with the participation of Krishna Das (vocals and harmonium), Walter Becker (bass; co-production), Rick Allen of Def Lepard (drums), Ty Burhoe (tabla) and David Nichtern (guitar and co-production; well-known composer of "Midnight at the Oasis") - were all recorded live in one piece, with the exception of some post-dubbing. The music that emerged from this flow is a fusion of the most diverse sounds: violin and cello with bansuri flute, sarod and esraj with piano and drums, electric guitar and bass with tabla, acoustic guitar with trumpet and African drums… And running through it all, as it were, is the deeply emotional voice of Krishna Das, as well as the voices of the choir and the hypnotic mantra-like names that emerged from the living spirit in the hall.

The result:
A mantra suite in four parts that unfolds seamlessly from classical Western music to Indian sounds and rock'n roll to South African township.
