One mat = one tree
For every YOGISTAR® yoga mat sold, YOGISTAR® plants a tree.
Myrrh refers to the resin of the myrrh tree, which is native to Northeast Africa. The myrrh tree can grow up to 10 meters tall; the resin flows through cuts in the bark and hardens into small reddish-brown resin tears. Myrrh is used in naturopathy for oral care, skin problems, stomach and intestinal problems, as well as cold and joint problems. In perfumery, it is used as a fixative.
The organic myrrh essential oil (bot. Commiphora myrrha) has a bittersweet, deep, balsamic scent; it has a calming effect and regenerates the skin. The essential oil is often used in intensively nourishing skin care formulas and is also well suited for oral care mixtures. The combination with essential frankincense oil has proven to be very effective for dry, cracked skin.
In aromatherapy for the psyche, the scent of the essential oil of myrrh is also valuable for stabilization and uplift, as well as for accompanying emotional wounds.
The essential oil is extracted from the resin of a small tree that grows in dry and water-poor areas of Africa. The resin is collected, dried and sorted. It is then either used as resin (e.g. for incense) or processed into essential oil or extracts. The botanical names for myrrh are Commiphora myrrha and Commiphora molmol. Both are used synonymously.
Tip 1 Recipe
Skin Protection Balm Frankincense Myrrh
For brittle, very dry skin areas
Slowly melt 25 ml of raw & organic shea butter in a water bath. Mix well in a screw-top jar (50 ml capacity) with 25 ml of organic aloe vera oil. Add 3 drops each of organic myrrh and organic African (formerly Arabic) frankincense and stir in. Quick cooling in the fridge helps the shea butter to form a smooth surface again when it hardens. Apply the balm to the affected areas and massage in. It is ideal to moisten the skin with a plant-based water, e.g. orange blossom water.
Tip 2 Recipe
Gargle solution Myrrh Sea buckthorn
For the care of the oral mucosa
Mix 1 teaspoon of organic sea buckthorn pulp oil and 5 drops of organic myrrh in a screw-top jar (100 ml capacity). Swirl the jar so that a film forms on the edge of the jar. Add 13 g of xylitol (birch sugar), screw on the lid and shake. Top up with 80 ml of boiled water. Screw on the lid and mix well. Shake vigorously before use. Rinse/gargle your mouth with 10 ml of the mixture every day. Use within 14 days.
Tip 3 Recipe
Mouth Spray Peppermint Myrrh
Refreshes and reduces unpleasant odors in the mouth
Add the essential oils (1 drop each of organic/demeter peppermint, manuka, extra cajeput, organic myrrh, organic/demeter lemon) to 100 ml of peppermint water. Shake well. If necessary, spray 2 to 3 times into the mouth.
